Most organisations end up with the capability gap they tolerate. Suppliers fill the spaces internal teams can’t — until those spaces become permanent. Platform teams become service desks with a rebrand, engineering standards drift between teams, and commercial capability stays thin because it feels easier to delegate complexity to suppliers than build it internally. Over time, the dependency deepens — and so does the cost.

The pattern is familiar: platform teams with tickets and SLAs but no roadmap or product thinking; supplier landscapes that have become difficult to manage coherently; commercial teams able to run procurements but not shape outcomes; and internal capability that disappears at the end of every programme. The organisations that get this right treat capability as something to build deliberately and retain internally — not borrow indefinitely from external partners. That’s the work we do.

Where we help

Our Capability & Enablement work focuses on building the internal foundations that make transformation, delivery and AI adoption sustainable. We work across five connected areas — engage us where you need us, or work with us across the full picture.

01: Cloud, Platform & Engineering Enablement

Helping organisations adopt modern cloud, platform and engineering practices well — from defining standards and ways of working through to enabling DevOps, CI/CD and cloud-native operating models. Advisory, not delivery: we help your teams build the capability, we don't replace them.

02: Platform Team Design

Designing platform teams that genuinely accelerate the rest of the organisation, rather than becoming queues and bottlenecks. Product-led, with clear customers, roadmaps and accountability. Includes the operating model decisions that determine whether platform investment pays back.

03: Supplier Management & Commercial Capability

Strengthening client-side commercial capability so that suppliers deliver the outcomes you need, not just the contracts you signed. Designing supplier management models, governance and assurance — and helping leaders have the difficult commercial conversations early, not late.

04: Capability Building & Coaching

Senior coaching and capability support for engineering, platform, delivery and commercial leaders. Useful when leaders are stepping into new types of role, navigating significant change, or building capability in their teams that didn't exist before.

05: AI Capability & Adoption

Building AI fluency across your organisation — not just in a specialist team. We help leaders create the conditions for safe, sustained AI adoption: capability frameworks, internal champions, training that lands, and the cultural shifts that determine whether AI tools actually get used well.

Most consultancies build dependency. Their commercial model relies on it. The longer you need them, the better their year looks. We work differently.

We're senior advisors who help your teams build the capability they need to operate independently — and we're explicit that our success is measured by whether you need us less over time, not more.

A different kind of capability partner.

A different kind of capability partner

Most organisations don’t struggle because they lack ambition. They struggle because the capability to deliver consistently was never built to scale. Supplier dependency grows, standards drift, and critical knowledge leaves as quickly as programmes end. We work with senior leaders to strengthen the internal capability that transformation actually depends on — across engineering, platforms, suppliers and AI adoption.

What we don’t do

We don’t embed engineering teams. We don’t run your platforms for you. We don’t create dependency through long-term capability programmes designed to keep us in the room indefinitely. And we don’t confuse training courses with real organisational capability. Our focus isn’t on replacing your teams — it’s on helping them become stronger, clearer and more effective over time.

How we work with you

Instead, we work alongside your engineering, platform, commercial and delivery leaders to build capability that lasts beyond the engagement itself. We bring practical patterns, senior challenge and experience from organisations that have scaled capability well — helping you strengthen ways of working, improve decision-making, and create the conditions for sustainable transformation without increasing reliance on external support.

We've seen the patterns: what makes a platform team thrive, what makes one stall; what makes engineering excellence stick, what makes it evaporate; what makes supplier relationships work, and what quietly corrodes them over time.
We bring that experience directly into the work  as coaching, challenge and patterns your leaders can use immediately, rather than methodology that needs translating before it's useful.

Got some questions? We have the answers...

No. We’re advisory, not operational. We help you build, run and improve those functions — but we don’t take operational ownership of them. We’ve found this matters: capability that’s built internally lasts; capability that’s outsourced disappears the day the contract ends.

Training has a place, but capability is built by leaders, structures and ways of working — not just courses. Our work focuses on the leadership, design and coaching that turns training into actual capability.

Yes. A lot of our commercial and capability work is with organisations that want to bring more capability in-house — strategically, not for ideology. We help you decide what to build, what to keep with suppliers, and how to manage the transition.

Engagements are typically focused — weeks or a few months — with optional longer-term advisory support where useful. We don’t believe in multi-year capability programmes that build dependency on us.

AI is exposing capability gaps in most organisations — and creating new ones. Building AI fluency across teams is part of how we think about capability now, not a separate practice.

If you're designing platform teams, strengthening engineering practice, rethinking supplier management, building commercial capability, or developing the internal foundations for AI adoption — we can help.
